Moose Entertainment presents Vince Thompson Band.

Vince Thompson sings songs of experience in a resonant, baritone voice. He has been influenced by the lean, truthful lyrics of Merle Haggard and the sweet melodies of Hank Williams, along with the rhythms of jazz and rock & roll, His own compositions are written from the perspective of a man who, after growing up in California, traveled far from home for months at a time, over many years as a deck officer aboard large ships.

In his performances, Vince includes uptempo tunes and ballads, original compositions and songs of others. Listeners will hear the impact of country and bluegrass in his music, along with an assured, smooth style, pointing to the influence of jazz and swing. Together with some of the finest musicians in New England, Vince plays music that sounds good and makes you feel something.

The typical lineup includes Vince on rhythm guitar and vocals with upright bass, drums and electric guitar…and lately pedal steel.

Moose Entertainment presents Junior Krauss and The Shakes

  • Doug”Jr” krauss -Harp
  • Andy MacDonald-Guitar
  • Ben Boylan- Bass
  • Bob Bequillard-Drums

This talented group came together in 1999, joined by a shared desire to play bona fide American roots music: Blues, rock & roll, rockabilly, R&B, jump and country. Led by Doug ‘Junior’ Krauss, the Shakes have all established their musical credentials in notable bands over decades on the Connecticut music scene.
Junior Krauss is an acknowledged tonemaster on harmonica, delivering searing solos and soulful vocals. Andy MacDonald can make his guitar cry and his singing delivers the goods. Ben Boylan and Bob Bequillard throw down big beats of all kinds, with Ben shaking the windows on upright bass and Bob so deep in the pocket that the DA may be investigating!

The Shakes’ powerful sound and energetic performances have earned a following of loyal fans and supporters, youthful and ‘vintage’. Whether performing at festivals, night clubs, weddings or private events, this band knows how to get feet tapping, heads nodding and people heading for the dance floor.

The band’s influences are wide-ranging, including original Chicago Blues greats such as Howlin’ Wolf, Little Walter Jacobs, Sonny Boy Williamson, and Magic Sam, as well as contemporary artists including Sugar Ray & the Bluetones, Duke Robillard, the Paladins, NRBQ, and the late William Clarke and Hollywood Fats.

Junior Krauss & the Shakes have recently appeared with Blues legend James Cotton, as well as national artists James Montgomery and Debbie Davies. In 2005 Junior Krauss & the Shakes won the Connecticut Blues Challenge and traveled to Memphis to participate in the International Blues Challenge. The band has performed at Black Eyed Sally’s, 41 Bridge Street, W. Hartford Town Hall, Bushnell Park, Stafford Springs Blues Festival, and numerous other venues and events in the region.
